Ashley Bateman

Ashley Bateman is an undergraduate in the Department of Genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently, she works with Carol Lee in the Department of Zoology as a research assistant. Her work has focused on creating inbred lines of the copepod Eurytemora affinis for the use of QTL-mapping of loci associated with freshwater tolerance. She also does work on developing protocols for the analysis of putatively neutral loci used for the inference of selective sweeps during habitat invasions.  She also works as a research assistant with Nicole Perna in the Department of Genetics doing microbial genetics with e. coli as a model system.  Her long term goals involve pursuing a PhD degree, with a research focus on evolutionary genetics.
